About the Audit

TechniCom's CAD/CAM Audit tests and quantifies the state of users CAD/CAM operations and plans. The Audit uses a standardized, proven methodology to provide a cost effective evaluation of your CAD/CAM procedures and techniques; a review of the technical and operational aspects of how well CAD/CAM supports your engineering and manufacturing departments and long term company strategy. A final report delivers a foundation for the continuous improvement of your operations. These recommendations should save you at least three times the cost of the audit in the first year of use, if carried out as designed.

The audit can be particularly effective when you are considering a new or upgraded CAD system. Because we specialize in the CAD/CAM field, we constantly keep up to date with the CAD vendors, where they are going, and how they compare versus their competitors. You can short circuit your buying cycle by allowing us to work with you to understand your needs, develop effective business and technical selection criteria, and help you limit your choices to the best of the breed. Then making the decision is fast, painless, and profitable.

Some examples

Recently a company contacted us because they were about to begin a new product design, and wanted to make a decision on a new system in two, rather than the usual ten months. In several days we were able to analyze their needs, determine the most important selection criteria, and isolate the bidding process to only two vendors. During the following few weeks we helped them put together the bidding procedures and a simple benchmark that reflected their needs. They met their schedule!

In another case, in a large company we discovered that having two design systems caused duplicate work and a longer than needed design cycle. Our recommendation of a single system was adopted by management. The result? Improved cycle time and lowered costs!

How will the audit be conducted?

The audit involves four intensive days of interviews with key department employees and an observation of your actual operations. We will develop documentation, analysis, and an evaluation of each key department's procedures related to the use of CAD/CAM within your company.

What resources do you need to commit to the audit?

You need to make available the key department employees for the Audit interviews, assign a coordinator to assist us in scheduling the interviews, and provide access to the top levels of management to assist us in understanding your overall corporate strategy. In addition, you'll need to make sure the key individuals are present to review our recommendations.

What are the results of the Audit?

The CAD/CAM Audit provides a foundation for the continuous improvement of your operations. The Final Report contains the three levels of recommendations. This Final report will be prepared within two weeks after the completion of the Audit. Then we return to your site to present the findings and recommendations in an informal presentation at your location. The report contains multilevel recommendations, all aimed at increasing your level of competitiveness:

  • Level I - recommendations that can be implemented by your staff

  • Level II - projects that require minimal coaching or assistance

  • Level III - projects that should be led by TechniCom

We include written instructions for implementing the Level I recommendations. Our experience has shown that the Level I recommendations should save you at least three times the cost of the audit in the first year of use, if carried out as designed.
